There is plenty to
do for all the family on the Costa del Sol. For those water enthusiasts
amongst you, there are aqua-parks in both Mijas and Torremolinos.
Aqualand in
Torremolinos is the largest of the two and is set in 500 acres of land.
Try the kamikaze ride if you dare! For those interested in nature there are a wide variety of places to visit. Go to the crocodile park in Torremolinos to see Big Daddy, the largest croc in Europe. He weighs 600kgs and is 4.6 metres long. Take the opportunity to hold a live crocodile and visit the baby croc nursery. Take a trip to Fuengirola zoo which has been designed to replicate the natural habitat of each and every one of the animal species living there. There are over 500 animals including otters, hippos, turtles, gorillas, tigers and the latest additions, the orang-utans. If you want, you can enter the zoo at night and see the nocturnals come to life. Travelling further afield to Estepona, there is the Selwo Aventura safari park. All the animals live in semi-freedom in a huge wilderness covering a million square metres. Either go round the park on foot, or for the less energetic- by jeep. Enjoy the most exciting adventure activities: flying fox, dromedary rides, overhead walkways, archery etc. You can visit the Sealife marine centre in Benalmadena or if you prefer to see the dolphins in their natural habitat - take a trip on the dolphin safari - where they guarantee you see them or your money back. The boat trip lasts 90 minutes and can cover the bay and straits of Gibraltar, home of the common striped and bottlenose dolphins - together with turtles, flying fish and several species of whales. For sports fans take a trip to La Rosaleda, home of Malaga football club. Now a well established primera liga side, Malaga have a huge base of foreign fans and when you consider they will be entertaining the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona this season, its easy to understand why. For football fans this is an absolute must. You can take an organised trip from Inchys bar or travel in style in a 12 -seater stretch limousine. If you fancy a flutter try a day at the races at Hipodromo Mijas. Held on Sunday afternoons in the winter or Saturday evenings in the summer, it has many bars, restaurants and live bands and is great fun for all the family. For off-road racing check out the Quad biking and Go karting in Fuengirola. The Costa Del Sol is probably the most famous off-road location in the world. The dunes of sand, the Mediterranean Sea, and the neighbouring mountains offer spectacular backdrop for those wishing to explore or take breathtaking pictures of an area via off-road vehicles. Also Gran Karting Club Mijas offers you go-karting day and night on 2 different circuits with 5 different models of hiring for adults and children including mini-bikes (great fun). Pit your wits against your friends with organized racing for group celebrations and birthdays. If you are looking for beautiful scenery then try out the Cable Car Experience for the most spectacular vistas of the Costa Del Sol. Situated next to Tivoli World in Arroyo de la Miel the cable cars will whisk you up the mountainside for some of the most panoramic views you will ever see. Take a camera for some great holiday snaps. There are various markets on different days of the week easily accessible by car, bus or train. The pick of these are Fuengirola(Tuesday), Torremolinos(Wednesday) and Arroyo-Benalmadena(Friday).
